I walk Dad back to his suite, fully intending to stay out a bit longer on my manhunt. But by the time we get there, I realize how truly exhausted I am. It’s much easier to just take the elevator up to my room than it is to make the ten-minute walk back to where all the action is. Sure, it’s another night down the tubes, but at least I made an effort.

I push open the door to my suite—expecting peace and quiet—only to find Lana standing in the middle of the room wearing nothing but a beach cover-up and a pair of giant hoop earrings. And she’s squawking.

“This suite is amaaaaazing!”

Before I can make my presence known, she’s whipped her dress up over her head and tossed it onto the couch. Thankfully, and I am only thankful for this for about three seconds, she’s wearing a bikini underneath. After those three seconds pass, I’m left with a double-D-chested, bikini-clad woman in my suite—and Graham, standing by the bar holding two empty martini glasses.

“I’m sorry,” I mumble. “I didn’t know you guys were in the middle of something. I’m just...I’m going to go to bed. It’s late.” I make a beeline for my bedroom, and quickly shut the door behind me. I hear the slider going out to our balcony open and close. A few seconds later, there’s a knock.

“Summer?” says Graham, in a half whisper. I pull the door open a few inches.

“What?”

He has his forehead pressed up against the doorframe and is looking down at me. “Don’t go to bed. Come out on the balcony with us.”

“Are you crazy?”

“Look, I know what you think is going on here. But it’s not like that. She invited herself over. To be honest, she kind of scares me.”

“So, what do you want me to do about it?”

“Just hang out with us so she doesn’t try to eat me alive.”

I shut the door in his face and count to ten.

“I’ll be out in a minute.”

As much as I want to go to sleep, I also don’t want to leave Graham and Lana out there alone. I kind of feel like I owe him something for getting me on a Jet Ski today—even if it is just saving him from a highly attractive older woman who wants to sleep with him. Does he really think I’m going to buy his story that he’s not interested? Of course he’s interested. I can’t for the life of me figure out why he wants me out there. Maybe he’s hoping for a three-way. Against my better judgment, I throw on my swimsuit and a cover-up and step out of my room. Graham is standing there holding a bright green martini.

“Appletini?”

“Thanks,” I say, taking the glass. “You know, you could have warned me she’d be here.”

“I didn’t exactly plan on it. I told you, she invited herself. I was trying to get her back to her own cabin.”

“I’m not buying your story, Blenderman.”

“How come you disappeared before dinner tonight?” he asks, stopping me before I walk out the sliding door.
